12 Drinks of Christmas
From citrusy, to creamy, celebrating the holidays takes all forms, and we are here to help make your holidays... boozier.

Here are 12 fantastic libations that you can enjoy this holiday season. 


1. White Cosmopolitan

Impress your friends with this extremely beautiful, crystal clear Cosmo, a variation of the recipe by Dale Degroff.

 
1 1/2 oz Ketel One Citroen Vodka
1/2 oz Triple Sec
1 oz White Cranberry Juice
1/4 barspoon Citric Acid
Cranberry garnish


2. Hot Buttered Rum

A toasty rum bevy that will warm you from the inside out. A favourite drink to have when you are feeling cozy or want to beat the cold.


2 oz Havana Club 7 Rum
2 barspoons Honey
1 barspoon Unsalted Butter
2 pinches of Ground Nutmeg
Top up with Boiling Water


3. Mulled Wine
 

A traditional favourite. Mulled wine is one of the best things to keep in a crock during the entire holiday season.


5 dried Cloves
1 pinch of Nutmeg
1 pinch of Cinnamon
3 oz of Red Wine (such as Shiraz will do)
1 wedge of Orange
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
2 barspoons of Honey
1/2 oz Grand Marnier
Top with Boiling Water
Star Anise and Cinnamon Stick Garnish


4. Egg Nog

A nod to a classic Pierre Berton Christmas. Eggnog is one of the easiest things to keep in the fridge and store throughout the holidays. It also makes for a fantastic gift. Recipe by Jeffrey Morgenthaler.


4 large eggs
2/3 cups of Sugar
4-5 oz of Tequila
5 oz Sherry
12 oz of Whole Milk
8 oz Heavy Cream
Tiny pinch of salt
Nutmeg Garnish


5. Grasshopper

Created at the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans, the Grasshopper became the hit drink of 1919. This delicious dessert cocktail is the perfect replacement for a midday pick-me-up while doing some serious holiday shopping.


1 oz Peppermint Liqueur
1 oz White Creme De Cacao
1 oz Half-and-Half
Mint Garnish


6. Holiday Mai Tai

Who says tiki drinks are only for the summer time and patio hangs? By adding a bit of extra spice, you can jazz up your Mai Tai, and make it a bit more holiday-esque.


2 oz Havana 7 Year
1/2 oz Orange Curacao
3/4 oz Lime Juice
1/3 oz Orgeat
1/4 Star Anise Simple Syrup
Orange Slice and Cinnamon Stick Garnish


7. Brandy Alexander 

An after-dinner classic that is rich, creamy, and delicious.


1 1/2 Cognac
2/3 Brown Creme de Cacao
1/3 White Creme de Cacao
5/6 Half-and-Half Cream


8. Rosemary Gimlet

Sometimes you can elevate and innovate a classic cocktail by adding a simple ingredient. By infusing rosemary, or another wintery herb of choice, you can help to modify a delicious drink, into something that relates to your choice holiday or event.


2 oz Rosemary Infused Gin
3/4 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Rosemary Sprig Garnish

9. Whiskey Flip

Similar to an egg nog, a flip is a creamy and hearty cocktail. Just about any spirit can be shaken with sugar, and a whole egg to create this delicious concoction.

2 oz Whiskey
1 Whole Egg
3/4 Simple Syrup
Nutmeg Garnish

10. Breakfast Martini

Nothing beats this martini rendition, perfect to pair with brunch on Christmas Morning.


1 1/3 Dry Gin
1/2 Triple Sec
1/2 Lemon
Spoon of orange marmalade
Twisted Orange Peel Garnish

11. Christmas Mimosa

Wake up on Christmas morning to this delightful bubbly variation on a classic mimosa!


4 oz Sparkling Wine
3 oz Cranberry Juice
Rosemary Sprig and Cranberry Garnish
